Here are a number of pieces of free software that I use on a regular
basis that I hope you will find usefull.
| mplayer (.zip 2.2MB - 9mins
on 56kb connection) mPlayer is a video/audio player software.
Its great because you don't need any codecs so it can play just
about any format. I also like the keyboard shortcuts. |
| Media Player Classic (.zip
1.3MB - 5mins on 56kb connection) is an ultra basic version
of Windows Media player which also plays video/audio. A bit
more user friendly interface, and again, you don't need codecs
so it can play just about any format. |
| Scite Text Editor
(.zip 235KB - 1min) Scite is a text editor much better than
notepad because it has syntax highlighting for just about any
programming language and you can work with multiple files as
they are set as tabs so you can easily switch between them. |
| PDF995 (.zip 4.5MB -
17mins) PDF is a freeware pdf writer. Why pay hundreds of
dollars for Adobe Acrobat writer when this one is available
free? It acts like a virtual printer and "prints"
your word documents into the .pdf format, which is famous for
its high compression and added security. |
| ACDSee (.zip 4.0MB - 16mins)
ACDSee is image viewing software. Although WinXP has its own
built in, I like it for the keyboard shortcuts. |
